DESCRIPTION:Live music and poetry returns to the Italian Gardens this summer. \nWe have another fantastic line up of super talented local performers and it’s all completely free so pack a picnic\, bring a brolly (useful in sun or rain) and enjoy an afternoon of splendid entertainment. \n12 pm Music from Annie and King \nKicking off our summer program are garden regulars Annie and King\, it’s always a treat to welcome this brilliant duo who’s original songs are both humorous and heartfelt. Guaranteed to get toes tapping and hands clapping! \n12:45 pm Poetry from fantastic local poets Jo Reed Turner and Ann Gibbon who are joined by special  guest performer Ellen Phethean a prominent figure in Newcastle’s creative writing scene. \n1:30 pm Music from Marigolds \nWe are delighted to welcome this local female trio consisting of Fay Gillanders\, Gillian Edwards\, and Rowena Sommerville to the gardens for the first time. They are well-known in the region for performing a variety of harmonious a cappella music ranging from “trad to weird” with a distinctive edge. \n2:15 pm Poetry from Ellen Phethean\, Ann Gibbon and Jo Reed Turner \n3 pm Music from Professor Cooper \nClosing out our program for the day is popular local covers performer Alan Cooper\, armed with a ukulele and harmonica he will have you singing along to a diverse set of fantastic pop and folk favourites. \nAll times are approximate and may be subject to change.

DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to welcome Raven one of Scarborough’s finest live acts to the Italian Gardens to close out our Summer  program of music and poetry. \nRaven have been together for 19 years and successfully toured to a large number of diverse venues throughout North Yorkshire. The name Raven describes the mysterious\, earthy and spirited – reflecting their unique style and blend of music. Their haunting harmonies\, crunchy chords and exquisite a capella is enchanting\, vibrant\, moving and not to be missed. \nRaven are joined by incredible solo performer John Watton\, a Scarborough based singer-songwriter with a magnificent voice and the Scarborough Poetry All Stars\, some of our finest local poets helping to drive an interest in spoken word performance through out North Yorkshire and beyond. \nProgram. \n12.00 – Poetry from Scarborough Poetry All Stars \n1.00 – Music from John Watton \n2.00  – Poetry from Scarborough Poetry All Stars \n3.00  – Music from Raven \nThe Italian Gardens have plenty of places to perch but feel free to bring your own chair\, picnics encouraged and this being a British summer brollies/ waterproofs recommended as the show will go on what ever the weather. \nTimings for guidance only. All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult\, dogs on leads are welcome in this garden.

Both choirs—individually and combined— perform feel-good musical journeys featuring folk\, pop\, and world music. \n12:45 pm Poetry from brilliant local poets Peter Finch\, Dechen Shaw\, Sue Grogan. \n1:30 pm Music from The Marvels \nThe Marvels is an East Coast singer-songwriter duo based in Scarborough\, featuring local musicians Carmel O’Toole and Marvin Close. They perform original music blending roots\, folk\, and storytelling\, often exploring local themes\, people power\, and social issues. This is their first visit to the gardens and we can’t wait to welcome them. \n2:15 pm Poetry from Peter Finch\, Dechen Shaw\, Sue Grogan. \n3 pm Music from The Tall Boy \nClosing out our program for the day is popular local performer The Tall Boy. It’s been a while since he performed for us and we look forward to giving him a warm welcome back to our stage. \nAll times are approximate and may be subject to change.
