As part of the National Lottery Heritage Funded project, to regenerate the South Cliff Gardens, we will construct a new community building and we would like you to give it an identity by name it!

We are looking for entries inspired by your love of the gardens, their history and heritage and a name that best represents the buildings role within the wider landscape.

The building will play an integral part in the future maintenance of the site by housing the South Cliff Gardens Maintenance Team and being the centre point for our dedicated volunteers, old and new. The building will have a workshop space where schoolchildren will visit to learn about the heritage of the landscape, local community groups will use the space to develop their skills and artists will take advantage of the rare opportunity to observe the relationship between, people, the land, and the sea. A wide range of exciting activities and events will also take place in the space such as food growing educational sessions, arts and craft classes, seasonal spectacles and wellbeing workshops.

The competition is open to everyone (under18’s must get parental permission to take part) and you can enter as many times as you like, a short list of five entries will be selected by a panel of judges and these will then go out for a public vote with the winning entry receiving a £50 Scarborough gift card. The four runners up will each receive a £20 gift card.

Closing date for entries is noon on 22nd January. Good luck.
