Horticulture expert Doug Stewart will be posing a number of key questions about heritage gardening in such a unique coastal setting and exploring how volunteers can help to ensure that prime locations within the gardens are successfully maintained following the recent regeneration work.
Doug has previously worked successfully with our volunteer gardening group and is now opening up his workshops to anyone interested in heritage gardening.
We will meet outside Beeforth’s Hive for 1pm and head into the gardens from there. This is an outdoor event so please dress for the weather and wear sensible footwear.
This will be the first of series of monthly workshops which will allow us to get a thorough understanding of this fascinating subject with future dates to be confirmed.
Meet your workshop leader:
Doug works with the Royal Horticultural Society as a professional associate and consultant, is the author of The Gardener’s Guide to Sustainability (published in September), and presents the gardening programmes on BBC Radio Humberside and Lincolnshire.
When not working with community groups, or speaking at events, he enjoys striding across hill and dale, getting lost, cycling, travelling, blogging and is a total, complete and utter plant nerd.
