The South Cliff Community Group is a not for profit community group, managed by a small committee of passionate and dedicated volunteers. The group is made up of over 400 members with a diverse range of interests but they share a love of the South Cliff area of Scarborough and have been fundamental in securing funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund to save the South Cliff Gardens. Through lots of hard work the group managed to raise £105,000 towards the project in just 6 weeks.
Their primary aim as a group is to promote, develop and maintain a community where people want to live, work and visit.
The group hold quarterly meetings when they invite Ward Councillors, local police officers and other guests to talk to the group about key developing matters, and where members can raise issues that concern them. These may relate to community matters such as planning, housing, crime/prevention, events, transport or tourism.
They also run informal coffee mornings every 6 weeks, where members can meet new friends, and socialise.
