The South Cliff Community Group was a not for profit community group, managed by a small committee of passionate and dedicated volunteers. The group was made up of over 400 members with a diverse range of interests but they shared a love of the South Cliff area of Scarborough and have been fundamental in securing funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund to save the South Cliff Gardens. Through lots of hard work the group managed to raise £112,000 towards the project in just 6 weeks.
Their primary aim as a group was to promote, develop and maintain a community where people want to live, work and visit and to help restore the gardens. The group folded in 2022 following the finalisation of the works but they will be fondly remembered as a fundamental part of the project, and many members of the group still live near and walk through the gardens daily.
