It was an uncertain start to 2021 with lockdown in full force and the renovation work yet to begin but WOW! What a year it turned out to be. The lifting of restrictions in spring and summer gave us the opportunity to partner with so many talented and creative local people to deliver a varied program of events and activities which included nature spotting, live music, yoga, theatre, children’s sessions and guided walks.  We were also able to welcome back the fantastic Friends of South Cliff Gardens who work so hard alongside our gardening team to keep the gardens looking spectacular.

We ended the year on a high on Sunday when we welcomed The Dinner Theatre Company for an abridged reading of “A Christmas Carol”. Around one hundred people braved the cold and dark to join us in enjoying this most festive of tales by torchlight in our beautiful Italian Gardens. It really was a magical way to wave goodbye to a year whose challenges have been far outweighed by the positive memories we have created together.

We just want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has volunteered with us or visited the gardens over the past twelve months and to share our immense appreciation of all the amazing people who have contributed to bringing events to the gardens this year. We look forward to welcoming you back in 2022 when we will be bringing even more fun and festivities to South Cliff Gardens. Watch this space…

Merry Christmas and wishes for a happy New Year from the South Cliff Gardens Team.
